The year 2021 has been crazy in digital marketing, from the acquisition of hundreds of multi-million-dollar cryptocurrency deals to generational changes in data policies. We’re going to dive into what’s to come in 2022 and how we can better prepare for a new year. Creating a competitive advantage continuously is one of the most important factors for upcoming brands, and now more than ever there are innovative ways to do that.
1.) Invest in a concrete Brand Image.
Firstly, investing in a robust brand image is pivotal for success in 2022. Branding, now more than ever, is one of the most important elements of Business and even more so in Marketing. Storytelling assists in building a firm brand image and this is what keeps the likes of us, as customers returning our business to the brands that earn it. In 2022, a solid brand image will require a two-step marketing strategy; using digital advertising to get exposure and reach is essential for growth, but with growth comes a higher cost – obviously.
Higher competition increases Google’s bids for keywords and that chance of exposure. Which is what eliminates small businesses that cannot afford this. Even though the return on investment, when done right, is why hiring professionals is the best option.
2.) Use More Videos.
Marketing tips from the past few years have put emphasis on Videos as a form of Marketing. Yet, a lot of businesses are skeptical and hesitant about incorporating video marketing into their strategy. With the continuous rise of TikTok and Instagram announcing their Reels as a video platform, the rise and reach of the audience are forthcoming. Videos can range from Filmed Podcasts, Live Events done virtually, and Live Q&A’s. Especially with the increase in the Metaverse and Non Fungible Tokens (NFTs).
3.) Marketers, Get More Strategic!!
With the explosion of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning, it takes away a lot of the foundation and hard work of digital marketing. Meaning marketers have to become more strategic, think outside of the box, and the options in digital marketing will continue to develop and elevate. Being open and experimental with these changes are pivotal to competitive advantage, especially in 2022.
Marketers and business leaders need to focus on what really drives their business growth; this certainly varies from business size and industry, as well as the size of the company.
4.) Optimize Voice Search.
The rise of voice technology not only makes it easier and faster for consumers to get what they’re looking for, it’s already integrated into our everyday lives right before our eyes. Onsite Chatbots, Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant are just the start of what’s to come. These have been implemented to help us as consumers solve problems as quickly as we can say them. Being passive (most of the systems we use are passive) and less invasive gives the consumer the power to ask if they want to, allowing content to flourish in the digital world.
But how do I optimize voice search? We hear you ask, voice search means concentrating and fixating on efforts that contain conversational keywords and real life content that will answer people’s questions as well as solving peoples problems.
5.) Bad Mobile Experience Be Punished.
Mobile optimisation has been increasing year upon year, but yet this is one of the practices marketers put to the back of the line. This should work in tandem with desktop optimization when being created on Google Adwords. If however, Mobile and Desktop optimization do not work hand in hand, ads and accounts will suffer and user experience will be at the forefront of this. Which will result in a drop in website ranking, organic consumers, and other aspects of the site.
If you’re thinking, what makes a great mobile website? Answer this, what do you hate about websites? Slow transition/loading speed, pop ups, invasive chatbots and so on. Make it consumer friendly, responsive, no pop-ups, work in tandem with digital ads, apps, and anything else that can help correlate and convert customers.
